Orete Policies
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
Orete is a community-driven navigation app for lifters. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain-English on purpose.
Who we are
"Orete", "we", "us" and "our" refer to the team operating the Orete app and website at orete.co.uk. We are based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, contact us at info@orete.co.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to run the app:
- Account data — email, password (hashed), display name and optional profile info you add.
- Content you submit — locations, reviews, ratings, photos, home-gym selections, food picks.
- Location data — approximate location when you use the map, and only while the app is in use. We never track your location in the background.
- Device & usage data — browser type, IP address, pages viewed, and basic diagnostics to help us fix bugs.
- Communications — messages you send us via email or in-app forms.
Why we use it
- To create and secure your account.
- To show gyms, food and events near you.
- To moderate content and keep the community safe.
- To improve the product and fix issues.
- To send essential service emails (e.g. password resets).
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are: performance of contract (running your account), legitimate interests (improving and securing the app), consent (optional cookies and marketing), and legal obligation where applicable.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with providers that help us run the app:
- Supabase / Lovable Cloud — database, authentication and hosting.
- Google Maps — to render the map and search for places.
- Analytics and error reporting used to keep the app stable.
We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep it
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Reviews and locations you submit may remain visible to the community after you leave, but will be anonymised. You can request full deletion at any time — see the Account Deletion Policy.
Your rights
Under UK/EU data-protection law you can:
- Access a copy of your data.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and personal data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) if you're in the UK.
Email info@orete.co.uk to exercise any of these rights.
Children
Orete is not for anyone under 13. If we learn a user is under 13, we'll delete the account.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the UK/EEA. Where they do, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when things change and note the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged in-app.
